The Axiom 1000BASE-ZX SFP is a new transceiver module built for single-mode fibre networks. It operates at a 1550nm wavelength and delivers a 1.25 Gbps transfer rate across the -20° to 70°C industrial temperature range. Network engineers deploy it in switches and routers where extended reach and wide thermal margins are required.

IEEE 802.3 standards and distance limits

The module complies with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3ab standards for Gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fibre. The 1000BASE-ZX specification supports link distances up to 100 kilometres. Attenuation and dispersion on the 1550nm path define the practical ceiling; links beyond the rated reach will experience signal degradation.

1.25 Gbps capacity and thermal headroom

The 1.25 Gbps line rate handles full-duplex Gigabit traffic without oversubscription. The -20° to 70°C operating window provides headroom for unconditioned cabinets, outdoor enclosures and industrial sites. The module runs out of margin when fibre loss exceeds the ZX power budget or when ambient temperatures drift outside the rated band.
