24-port 1/10GbE SFP+ switch

The Arista DCS-7124SX-R is a 1 RU network switch with twenty-four 1/10GbE SFP+ ports for high-density 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. It includes a 100/1000 management port, an RS-232 console port and a USB port for out-of-band administration. Two 460 W hot-swappable AC power supplies and four hot-swappable fans provide redundancy in a rear-to-front airflow design.

Capacity and headroom

Twenty-four SFP+ ports support line-rate 10 GbE per port for server uplinks, storage links or leaf-spine fabrics. The 100/1000 management port handles control-plane traffic without consuming SFP+ bandwidth. Dual 460 W supplies deliver full N+1 power redundancy for the chassis and transceivers. The switch runs out of front-panel density when a design needs more than twenty-four 10 GbE connections or requires dedicated uplink ports beyond the shared SFP+ pool.

SFP+ interface practical limits

Each SFP+ cage accepts standard 10GBASE-SR, LR or direct-attach copper modules up to the electrical and thermal limits of the SFP+ MSA. Cable reach and power draw are determined by the chosen transceiver, not the switch itself. The shared 10 GbE per-port ceiling means aggregate throughput scales with the number of active ports, but any single flow cannot exceed 10 GbE. No higher-speed uplink cages or MACsec offload are present on this model.
