Swivel Stem Caster for Wheelbarrows and Carts

The Albion Inc. swivel stem caster uses a rubber wheel on a steel frame to give wheelbarrows and utility carts a 115 lb load rating. It mounts on a threaded 7/16 in stem and reaches a 4 13/16 in mounting height. The zinc plated finish protects the frame from corrosion during outdoor use.

Replaces Fixed or Worn Original Casters

Swapping a fixed wheel for this swivel unit adds maneuverability in tight garden rows or around landscaping beds. The jump is worth it when the original caster no longer rolls freely or when a rigid wheel forces wide turns that damage plants. A 4 in wheel diameter keeps the ride height familiar while the rubber tread cushions loads on uneven ground.

Check Stem Threads and Clearance Before Ordering

Verify that your equipment accepts a 7/16 in by 1-1/2 in threaded stem so the caster secures without adapters. Confirm the 4 13/16 in mounting height matches the frame geometry to avoid axle misalignment. Ensure the 115 lb capacity covers the intended load and that a non-marking tread is not required for the surfaces you cross.

Questions about this item

What stem size fits the 32J986 caster?

The caster uses a threaded stem measuring 7/16 in by 1-1/2 in.

How do I install the threaded stem correctly?

Screw the stem fully into the matching threaded hole until the frame seats flush; a common error is leaving a gap that reduces the 115 lb rating.

When should I replace the rubber wheel?

Replace the wheel when the rubber tread shows cracks, flat spots or wears down enough to change the 4 13/16 in mounting height.
